VISIT NEW YORK’S OBSERVATION DECK

New York City is one of the most famous destinations in the world. It has been used countless times as a setting for movies and TV shows. It also possesses renowned touristic attractions as well as an incomparable political and economic significance.

One of its most emblematic buildings is the Empire State, which has even been nicknamed “the heart of the city”, and no wonder why!

EMPIRE STATE BUILDING HEIGHT AND LOCATION

This elegant construction that was erected in the 30s is 443.2m tall, so it won’t be hard for you to find it, but just in case, remember that it’s located in the touristic Fifth Avenue, between 33th and 34th streets, in the Midtown area. It was the tallest building in the world for 40 years until the construction of the World Trade Center’s Twin Towers. Something that’s impressive about it is its perfect location for a 360º panoramic view of the city. But wait. There’s much to see there before reaching the top floor.

EMPIRE STATE OPENING HOURS

First, photograph it from different areas of Manhattan, especially because it stands out among the urban landscape. Then, on the day of your visit, DINKtravelers recommends arriving between 8-10 am. Once there, start your tour at the recently restored Hall and check out one of New York’s best-kept art deco interiors. Pay close attention to the ceiling in which you’ll find stars and planets represented in 24K gold gears.

DEAR TO DREAM EXHIBIT

If you arrive early, as suggested, it’s probable that you’ll encounter very few tourists in the lobby so you won’t find long lines; however, another good option is to buy express tickets that offer the advantage of skipping the lines.

The next step is to visit the exhibits Sustainability and Dare to Dream. There, you’ll learn how the Empire State’s community has participated in an environmental sustainability program and you’ll also discover the history behind this enormous tower.

102 FLOOR OF THE EMPIRE STATE

Climb up to the highest open-air observatory in the city… it’s the main platform on the 86thfloor. Evidently, you’ll be inspired to create 360º panoramic photographs of the surrounding areas. But if you think this is the highest you can climb, check this out: On the 102nd floor you get the chance to climb up a classical Otis lift with a manual mechanism.

THE EMPIRE STATE AT NIGHT

Another excellent option is to visit the tower at night. This way, just like in the movies, you’ll get to share special moments with your perfect other. Note: consider it a great place to celebrate special occasions without rushing because the Empire State closes at 2 am.

As a last piece of advice, buy your tickets online or at the attraction’s ticket office, and never purchase them with street vendors.
