British Columbia Highway 52
Get behind the wheel and drive from Niagara Falls to the City of Quebec along Heritage Highway in Canada!
HERITAGE HIGHWAY IN CANADA
There are a bunch of ways to enjoy your journey. Walking, climbing, swimming… and so on. Driving along scenic highways is definitely one of the options. This time, we will go on a 800km drive on Highway 52 in British Columbia, locally known as Heritage Highway.
WHEN TO VISIT BRITISH COLUMBIA
We would say that the best season to go there is from late September to early October. You’ll find vivid red trees with light orange and yellow leaves. Just prepare some healthy fall snacks like roasted pumpkin seeds or baked apples and get behind the wheel!
FROM NIAGARA FALLS TO QUEBEC CITY
This route begins at Niagara Falls and crosses Canada all the way to Quebec City. There are lots of sightseeing spots along the route starting, evidently, with Niagara Falls! The volume of water falling over the falls is 600,000 gallons (about 2,300,000 liters) per second, which makes them the world’s largest falls. Watch them closely from Table Rock and then enjoy sailing behind them by taking the Journey Behind the Falls.
THOUSAND ISLANDS IN ONTARIO
Your next stop will be Thousands Islands in Ontario. These are 1864 small islands (all of them have owners), and some have small cottages, castles and other marvelous elements that make you will feel as if you were stepping into a fantasy world. To enjoy this place, you can either go on a small cruise or, more adventurously, go on a helicopter ride.
LAURENTIAN MOUNTAINS IN MONTREAL
Next, stretch your legs by exploring Laurentian Mountains. Your destination is Mont-Tremblant Village, where a cute colorful townscape will welcome you. Stand before that wonderful scenery and take some selfies. Also, we recommend spending a couple of days there because not everything at this destination is about beautiful sceneries. DINKtravelers suggests pampering yourself on the first day and taking a spa treatment. Then, wake up very early on the second day and prepare to go trekking. There are several trekking courses they offer depending on your conditioning and expertise level. Still if you’re not sure you can make it, don’t worry, you don’t need to give up on the wonderful view. Get on a panoramic gondola. You’ll be amazed!
QUEBEC IN A DAY
When the end of the trip is near, you’ll still have one great place to visit: the City of Quebec. Put on your walking shoes and explore this superb destination that was registered as World Heritage in 1985. Enjoy meeting young artists who sell their works on their streets and buy original artwork as a souvenir.
Don’t miss going to places like Château Frontenac, a perfect place for taking pictures since it is the world’s most photographed hotel, and Petit Champlain with its numerous stylish stores. One of the Old Town’s most interesting attractions is its star-shaped Citadel. If you go there in summer, you can even plan your visit at 10am for the changing of the guard.
End your road trip with a night of Quebecois folk music and dinner at a classy restaurant.
